Phillip Rendon
Owner / Tattoo Artist
I’ve been tattooing for over 30 years, started out in my garage with homemade machines. At first tattooing was a side job as I worked in the private sector while raising my kids. As tattooing became more of my passion, I decided to make this my full-time job. Years later I am blessed to have my own tattoo shop and create a safe place for other artists to learn and thrive in the tattoo industry.
Philly Rendon
Tattoo Artist
I grew up around tattoos and tattooers, it’s in my blood. I’ve always had a love for art, drawing and sketching at a young age. I was fascinated with graffiti and murals which led me to expand my skills in tattooing.
Jaime "Jimbo" Vargas
Tattoo Artist
Self taught tattoo artist specializing in black and gray. I started tattooing professionally when Phillip opened the studio. I love what I do.

Criss Artem
Tattoo Artist
I’ve always wanted to tattoo ever since I saw some of my friends with good black & gray work on them, I was fascinated with art on skin. I have been tattooing for 3 years now & I feel truly blessed to be where I’m at today.
Brian A Trejo
Tattoo Artist
I’ve been drawing since 6th grade, off and on however by the time I was a junior in high school I began to take it more serious. Four years later after HS, I was introduced to tattooing by one of my dad’s friends.
Eddie "Drips" Diaz
Tattoo Artist
I’ve always been in the medical field, going on 4-5 years as a dialysis technician. Growing up I had love for street art/graffiti, I wanted to do something that would relate and give me that thrill which led me to tattooing.

Raul Gomez
Tattoo Artist
I’ve been tattooing about 2 1/2 years and am self taught. One of the reasons I got into tattooing is because of watching Phillip tattoo me for so many years. I enjoy black & grey but willing to try any styles as long as I know I can pull it off. I won’t do a tattoo that I know isn’t in my range of skill, I’d rather take the loss of money than put out bad work.
Carlos “Letras” Figueroa
Tattoo Artist
Always drawn and found different types of lettering interesting since a little kid. Never took it seriously or put my work out there til I was 15. At 16 I started to tattoo off and on for a year. Then at 18 took it seriously at a private studio. Now 19 years old and 3 years of self-taught experience find myself at The Kollective in Santa Paula.

Lovette
Piercer
I started goofing off in junior high and high school with not so professional piercing, I loved it! Put it on hold for a few years, moved to Arizona and did an apprenticeship. Been piercing ever since.
Melinda Rendon
Piercer Apprentice
I've never imagined that I would be piercing however once I began learning about the types of piercings, the supplies, the jewelry grade it brought a great interest to me. I began working alongside our piercer and am thankful to be apprenticing under Lovette as she has already taught me so much! I can't wait to complete the apprenticeship and become a full time piercer.

Aminadab “Ami" Sanchez
Tattoo Artist Apprentice
I’ve always liked to draw but as I got older, I didn’t have time for it anymore. When I had my son at the age of 17, I got into machining. Did that for about 8 years. About a year ago a buddy of mine bought me a tattoo gun and I spent countless hours practicing on my own skin. Eventually I started tatting my friends and once I had a couple customers, I decided to look for an apprenticeship. 1st and only shop I walked into was Phillips. Told him my story and he said to watch him tattoo but that he wasn’t in need of any. I happily accepted and he’s been a blessing ever since. Beautiful soul.

Our History
Phillip Graham Rendon - "I began tattooing in my late teens just by happenstance. Using only homemade tattoo machines and Higgins ink with guitar string for needles. My only attempt at an apprenticeship, I was told that I’d never be a professional tattooer and that I didn’t have what it took. I used that as motivation to keep pushing and learn the craft from a technical and business standpoint. I have an operations and customer service background which has allowed me to utilize those skills to enhance our clients’ experiences."
"I’ve had the honor of mentoring many artists and small business owners. I managed another very successful local tattoo shop for 10 years and decided to branch out and start my own private studio which grew quickly. As fate would have it my wife and I purchased a home in Santa Paula and fell in love with the town, deciding to move our main operations to Main Street. The Kollective speaks to my heart to help anyone that I possibly can to learn this business properly. An opportunity that I was denied originally. Now here I am, over 25 years later doing what I love."
Melinda Rendon - "I've worked in the public industry for over 20 years until recently to become a full time business owner with my husband. I have a background in management and customer service along with leading others in a positive way. The skills I've obtained over the years have led me to where I'm at today."
"I have a passion for fitness and health and am currently apprenticing in piercing. I've been intrigued with piercings and the art of it all, I love learning and fascinated with the whole process. I strive to give 100 percent and help others reach their goals. The Kollective Studio is not just a tattoo shop, it's a family. My husband and I believe strongly in family and it's our desire to create a safe, fun and positive space for not only the artists but our clients as well."
